Jazz Feature – Sonny Stitt

The jazz musician Sonny Stitt is an enigma, but a very pleasing one. He was never considered the best in any of the decades he covered – his competitors were Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, James Moody, Stan Getz and a host of others –but he was as talented as any saxophone player in the 20th century. He just had the bad luck to emerge on the scene fully formed at the same time as Charlie Parker and Dexter Gordon.
